AR for commercial and hospitality interior design

By specialty5 min readPublished October 2026

Commercial and hospitality projects have more approvers than residential ones, and fewer of them can visit the space. Operators, owners, brand teams and facilities managers all have a say. A link is a lighter way to give each of them the same view.

More approvers, less access

A hotel lobby or an office floor may be signed off by people in different cities. Sharing PDFs and renders gives each of them an image; it does not give them the same sense of scale.

What to review in AR

  • Reception desks, bars and counters, for height and presence.
  • Seating zones and booth layouts, for capacity and circulation.
  • Feature fixtures and sculptural pieces.
  • Signage and wayfinding elements.

One link, many viewers

Send the same link to everyone involved. Each person opens it on their own phone. Where there is a space to stand in they can place the piece, and where there is not, the interactive 3D view still shows proportions.

A review checklist for stakeholders

  • Height and presence of reception desks, bars and counters.
  • Clearances around seating and along circulation routes.
  • Sightlines from the entrance to key features.
  • Whether signage reads at the scale shown.

Ask each approver to send back one note per item, so decisions are recorded rather than left in conversation.

Keeping a team consistent

Studios with several designers need a consistent way to present and a clear view of who is working on what. A shared studio workspace, where the owner can see every project and staff see their own, keeps that organised. That is what the Business plan is for.

Where to use renders instead

Whole-space atmosphere and brand storytelling are still the territory of renders. Use AR for the specific elements where size and fit drive the decision.

Common questions

What if stakeholders cannot visit the actual space?
They can still open the link on their own phone. Where there is no suitable space to stand in, the interactive 3D view shows proportions and detail, and a site visit remains the right way to confirm placement.
Can several people on my team work in one workspace?
Yes. On the Business plan you can invite staff by email. Owners see every project and staff see the ones they created.
